When I first heard about this, I had my doubts. I’m not really a big fan of remakes…why remake something that’s already great. Anway, after seeing the cast & the director…I was in for the ride. Even though, the film keeps the basic structure of the original, it is very much it’s own film.
This movie really has the Scorsese feel that people will go to see it for, but it loses its full 10 rating in a few places: firstly, it has some gorey action, but sometimes it seems unnecessary. And scondly, the ending is disappointing. I could of gone without the rat at the end. I was half expecting it to get shot too. And Jack Nicholson has seen better days. He is the essential villain, but he seems to stray from such an image in this film. |
